Top 4 Things to Do on the Morning of Your Ocoee River Rafting Trip

Once you’ve made the wise decision to join in on one of our thrilling white water rafting trips, you’ll be anxiously awaiting the date of your excursion! While the anticipation is all part of the fun, this also gives you time to prepare for the adventure of a lifetime! When your date finally arrives, there are a few things that you’ll want to make sure you do in the morning before heading out! Here are the top 4 things to do on the morning of your Ocoee River rafting trip:

1. Eat a Hearty Breakfast

Start your morning by fueling up with some protein-rich food, such as eggs, Greek yogurt, turkey sausages, and cottage cheese! This meal will provide the energy you need to paddle through the rapids on the Ocoee River! If you don’t have time to eat at home, consider having breakfast at our on-site Apricot Place Cafe!

2. Leave Your Valuable Items at Home

Before heading out in the morning for your rafting trip, try to leave all of your valuable items at home! There is no need to bring along expensive jewelry, cell phones, etc. as there is always the possibility of the raft hitting some unexpected bumps and once an item falls into the river, it’s gone! As an alternative, you can lock your personal belongings in your car and check your car keys in our office while on your trip. We’ll take plenty of action photos of your trip, which are available at our outpost when you get back, so no need for a cell phone or camera!

3. Pack Water Resistant Sunscreen

You’ll want to apply sunscreen before taking off on your journey since you’ll be exposed to the elements for several hours on the river! By using waterproof sunscreen, you don’t have to worry about the splashes from the Ocoee River and can be protected from the sun at all times!

4. Gear Up in the Proper Clothing

When it comes to preparing for our Ocoee River rafting trip, be sure to gear up in the proper clothing! For those folks going out on our early spring trips, consider wearing wool, fleece, or a polyester top and pants (avoid cotton as it has no insulating value once it gets wet). We also provide splash jackets and pants to go over your clothes on cool days at no additional cost! During the summer, we recommend that you wear a t-shirt, shorts and a bathing suit. Also keep in mind that shoes with backs on them are required, so leave the flip-flops at home!
