7 Things to Pack When You Go Whitewater Rafting on the Ocoee River
If you have never been whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River before, or it has been awhile, you may not know what you should bring with you. There are several things you should pack for your exciting trip. We want to help you make this experience incredible. Here are 7 things you should pack when you go whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River:
1. Extra Clothes
As you can probably guess, you are going to get soaked when you raft with us. It’s a great way to cool off in the heat of Tennessee! When your trip is over though, you probably don’t want to travel soaking wet in your car. You should pack extra clothes to change into when your trip is finished. We have large changing rooms where you can step out of your wet bathing suits and clothes into dry clothes.
2. Waterproof Shoes
When you go whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River with us, you need to bring waterproof shoes. You shouldn’t wear shoes you aren’t comfortable with getting wet. Do not wear flip flops or shoes without backs because they will fall off during your trip. You want your shoes to stay securely on your feet.
3. Towel
You will definitely need a towel to dry off with when your trip is over. Don’t forget to pack one. You can leave your towel in your vehicle and then grab it once you are back at the outpost so you can dry off then change into your dry clothes.
4. Toiletry Items
As we mentioned before, we have large changing rooms where you can change out of your swimsuit and wet clothes. We also have showers so you can clean up if you want. Be sure to pack toiletry items, such as shampoo, conditioner, or anything else you might need if you want to take a shower after your whitewater rafting trip.
5. Sunscreen
Just like you want to stay safe while you whitewater raft, you should pack sunscreen to protect your skin while you’re outside. You won’t want to skip this, especially on a sunny day. There’s nothing worse than spending a fun day outside only to be sunburnt the next few days afterwards. Remember to bring and use your sunscreen!
6. Plastic Bag
Once you change out of your wet clothes, you may be wondering where you will put them. You will want to bring some kind of waterproof bag to put your wet clothes and swimsuits in until you head back to where you are staying.
7. Extra Money for Food
You should plan your meals around your trip. If you are hungry before or after your trip, you can purchase food from the cafe on our property. Make sure to bring some extra cash or your card so you can buy food instead of having to wait or find another restaurant.
