3 Fun Ways for Ocoee River Rafting Enthusiasts to Survive Winter

If you love white water rafting on the Ocoee River and are wondering how you’ll make it through the off-season, you are in luck! While there is nothing quite like the excitement of riding the rapids, there are still plenty of fun things you can do this winter to pass the time! Whether it’s enjoying some thrilling winter sports or just kicking back at home, it will be spring again before you know it! Here are just 3 fun ways for Ocoee River rafting enthusiasts to survive winter:

1. Enjoy an Exciting Variety of Winter Sports

snow skiing equipmentWhile we don’t offer Ocoee River rafting trips during the winter, you can enjoy the water in its frozen form with several exciting winter sports! If you love skiing, snowboarding, or snow tubing, you’ll find some fantastic destinations right here in the south such as Appalachian Ski Mountain, Cataloochee Ski Area, Ober Gatlinburg, and Wolf Ridge Ski Resort! Of course, you can always travel further on to discover some of the massive ski resorts in New England and out west! Some of the other popular winter sports you can enjoy include ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing!

2. Watch Some of Hollywood’s Best Rafting Movies

If you prefer to stay home this winter and relax by the warmth of the fire, take advantage of the off-season to watch some of Hollywood’s best movies that feature white water rafting! Whether you love thrillers, comedies, or classic westerns, there are a variety of rafting movies to provide hours of entertainment! The River Wild is one of the most famous films, an edge-of-your-seat thriller featuring Meryl Streep as a former Montana river guide and Kevin Bacon as the bad guy! Learn more about The River Wild and other movies to get you excited about rafting on the Ocoee River this upcoming season!

3. Make Your Spring Plans for White Water Rafting

people white water raftingOne of the best ways for Ocoee rafting enthusiasts to survive winter is to make spring plans to go white water rafting! While it’s a blast to get out on the water, planning the adventure is half the fun and you’ll have several months to anticipate the trip! You’ll want to be one of our first guests to get back to rafting when we open for the season on weekends in April, and you can already book our popular Middle Ocoee Rafting Trip for next year! This is a special opportunity to beat the rush and be among the first guests of the year to experience more than 17 major rapids, including Grumpy’s, Double Trouble, Table Saw, Hell Hole, and more! If you want to join us on our Upper Only Olympic Course, a 5-mile run through the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Competition Course, the wait is just a bit longer as these trips don’t kick off until select Saturdays in July and August!

Check out all of our Ocoee River rafting trips today to get pumped up about the upcoming whitewater rafting season! We look forward to seeing you at our outpost in the spring!
