Whitewater River Kayaking Lessons & Instruction
Would you like to bask in the sun in beautiful, seldom-seen river gorges? Would you like to feel the thrill of riding down powerful, turbulent whitewater? Join us! Quest’s top-of-the-line equipment and personalized professional instruction will launch you on the adventure of your life. We have a low four-to-one student-to-instructor ratio to maximize your fun and learning on the river. All clinics include a professional ACA-certified instructor, top-of-the-line equipment, analysis of your kayaking technique, and a deli-style lunch.
We offer several kayak instruction options:
Deluxe One and Two Day Kayak Clinics
Beginner and intermediate clinics available. We focus each clinic on teaching a solid foundation of whitewater skills and safety. The two day beginner clinics start with classroom instruction, proper preparation before challenging the river, basic strokes on flat and moving water, the Eskimo Roll and river safety. Day two we’ll take a downriver trip on the scenic Hiawassee River, with emphasis on boat control in whitewater, proper technique, Eskimo Roll in moving water and river rescue. The intermediate clinic will focus on improving your basic river skills and advancing your whitewater skills with the challenge of more difficult whitewater.
One day clinics are available with on the water instructions focusing on basic river skills. Lunch is provided on all clinics and camping is included with the two day clinic. Clinics require a minimum of 2 participants.
One Day Clinic $175.00 per person
Two Day Clinic $350.00 per person
Private Kayak Instruction
Reserve your very own instructor for the day. Custom clinics for beginners include basic strokes and the Eskimo Roll. For intermediate through expert paddlers, custom instruction allows us to teach you the skills of your choice, including rolling in whitewater, rodeo maneuvers or even steep creek technique.
Rates: $200.00 a day, per person
What to bring for your lesson
Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet in, such as bathing suit, shorts and T-shirt. We recommend river shoes or sandals. You will need a towel and dry clothes for after your day on the water. We provide all your paddling gear.
We want to help you safely enjoy as much fun as possible by teaching solid skills that will last a lifetime. However, we want you to know that whitewater kayaking can be physically demanding and has certain elements of danger beyond our control. Quest Expeditions Inc. does not assume responsibility for loss of property, illness, personal injury or death. All participants must sign a release form and be in good health. We reserve the right to refuse services to anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
