1. Chattanooga North KOA
The Chattanooga North KOA is situated about 16 miles west of our outpost on Route 74 and is surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills between the Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachians. Fans of the KOA brand of campgrounds will find all of the familiar amenities that makes these locations so popular, including a playground, recreational equipment, swimming pool, laundry room and more! The Chattanooga North KOA features full hookup sites for RVs, as well as plenty of tent sites and camping cabins for those who prefer a few extra comforts.
2. Thunder Rock Campground
Another one of the top places to go camping near the Ocoee River is the Thunder Rock Campground, which is situated approximately 19 miles east of our outpost on Route 74. The property is nestled along the Ocoee River and provides 37 regular campsites and one group site. There are picnic tables, grills and lantern posts located at each site, and water hydrants are located throughout the campground. You’ll also find a bathhouse with flush toilets and warm showers, which come in handy after a day of hiking in the Cherokee National Forest or white water rafting in Ocoee TN!
3. Chilhowee Campground
The Chilhowee Campground is another excellent option for those folks who want to camp among the stunning beauty of the Cherokee National Forest, and there are a multitude of camping opportunities for both RV and tent sites. The day-use area includes McKamy Lake, a swim area with sand beach, picnic sites, a group picnic area, and a bathhouse. You’ll also find bathhouses providing flush toilets and warm showers in each loop of the campground. The Chilhowee Campground is about 16 miles from our outpost and is an excellent hub for other outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing!
